Welcome to my blog, CookingAI! I am here to share my delicious and flavourful Rendang recipe with you. Rendang is a traditional Malaysian dish made with meat and spices. It is a type of dry curry with an intensely rich flavour. It is best served with either steamed white rice or cooked glutinous rice.
Ingredients:
– 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
– 4 shallots, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2-3 cm ginger, minced
– 3 red chilies, sliced
– 2 lemongrass, sliced
– 2 tablespoons oil
– 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
– 2 tablespoons brown sugar
– 3 tablespoons coriander powder
– 1 teaspoon dried chili powder
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 2 tablespoons ground toasted coconut
– 1 teaspoon ground cumin
– ½ teaspoon ground star anise
– 2 teaspoons salt
– 2 tablespoons coconut milk
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the shallots, garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute.
2. Add the red chilies and lemongrass and cook for an additional minute.
3. Add the beef cubes and cook until well browned.
4. Add the tamarind paste, brown sugar, coriander powder, chili powder, turmeric powder, toasted coconut, cumin, star anise, salt and coconut milk and mix well.
5. Reduce the heat and simmer until the beef is cooked through and the sauce is thick and fragrant.
6. Serve your Rendang with either steamed white rice or cooked glutinous rice. Enjoy!
